My friends, narratives are powerful things. They shape emotions, drive outrage, and often rush people to judgment before the facts have even had a chance to surface. Today’s Toddcast takes you inside a tragic and emotionally charged story out of Minneapolis—and explains why so many on the left were so quick to declare “murder” before evidence, investigation, or due process could catch up.
As new bodycam footage emerged, the original media narrative began to crack. Yet instead of pausing, many doubled down—politicians, activists, and journalists alike—insisting the conclusion was already settled. That rush to judgment isn’t just reckless; it undermines justice itself. Words matter. Definitions matter. And calling something “murder” has real-world consequences when it’s done for political gain rather than truth.
If murder is decided first, then what role is the justice system supposed to play?
I walk through why killing is not automatically murder, how self-defense is evaluated, and why Proverbs 18:17 offers a warning our modern culture desperately needs to hear. Being first is easy. Being right takes humility, patience, and a willingness to examine both sides.
This episode isn’t about denying tragedy. It’s about resisting manipulation. And it’s about refusing to let narratives replace facts.
Conservative, not bitter.

Todd Talk: Why the Left Is Melting Down Over Real Food Nutrition Guidelines
My friends, the left is in full meltdown mode after Secretary Kennedy unveiled new federal nutrition guidelines.
So what’s so concerning? Americans are encouraged to eat real food — things like red meat and full-fat dairy. Go ahead and cue the screaming.
We’ve heard the usual freakouts. Some activist physician groups say this will cause heart disease, diabetes, and obesity. Where have these folks been for the past 30 years?
Others claim we’re bowing to Big Meat. And of course, the climate-change crowd insists this will destroy the planet.
If you follow health and nutrition — carnivore diets, low-carb science, real-food movements — this looks less like serious criticism and more like ideological panic.
But has the old food pyramid actually made Americans healthier, thinner, or stronger?
Because if it had, we wouldn’t be having this conversation.

Why Reasoned Judgment Still Matters
In 2018, I served on a jury in one of the hardest cases I’ll ever experience. It involved the death of a 5-year-old boy named Brayson Price. According to prosecutors, his biological mother and her boyfriend decided caring for Brayson, who had special needs, was too difficult — and they conspired to kill him.
The case was brutal. The text messages were awful. The evidence was worse. It was obvious the defendant, Steven Ingalls Jr., was a terrible person. Even his own attorney admitted that. But he wasn’t on trial for being a bad person. He was on trial for conspiring to murder a child.
After two-and-a-half weeks, we convicted him. I was the last juror to vote guilty because taking away a man’s freedom demands proof beyond a reasonable doubt. I wanted to be absolutely positive we arrived at that conclusion properly — and we did.
That same standard matters today. What happened to Renee Good is tragic. But allegedly accelerating a vehicle toward an ICE agent and striking him changes the legal question. You can debate whether the use of deadly force was justified — but calling it murder ignores the facts and the law. And anyone who insists this is murder is simply not acting as a reasonable, fair-minded person.
