You'd Change the Locks. So Why Won't We Change the Voter Rolls?

My friends, did you catch Trump's speech on election integrity last night? Some people certainly didn’t — not because they weren't paying attention, but because NBC and ABC decided you didn't need to see it. Two of the biggest networks in the country, and neither one aired it. If a sitting president lays out actual data — declassified documents, DHS findings, intelligence assessments — and the legacy media won't even show you what he said, we should at least ask why. If the claims are as baseless as they say, wouldn't covering it be the easiest way to prove that?

Here's how I think about this, and it's not complicated. Imagine you've handed out keys to your house for years — to contractors, old tenants, people who don't live there anymore, friends, family. At some point you look up and realize there are dozens of keys floating around out there. That doesn't mean every one of those people is trying to break in. It just means you've got a vulnerability, and a responsible person changes the locks. That's it. And that’s exactly how we should think about securing our elections.

Trump laid out real numbers last night. DHS identified roughly 278,000 noncitizens on voter rolls. He talked about declassified intelligence showing China accessed voter information tied to something like 220 million Americans. Now, does any of that mean an election was stolen? No, and Trump didn't claim that either. It means the system has gaps. And admitting a system has gaps isn't radical — it's just honest and responsible.

That's why the SAVE America Act makes sense: prove who you are when you register, show ID when you vote, and stop mailing ballots to every name on a voter roll — dead or alive — in favor of absentee ballots you actually request. None of that is some new burden invented to make voting harder — it's the same basic verification you already do for a hundred other things in your life. And when a sitting U.S. senator says the quiet part out loud — that this bill would make it "hard for any Democrat" to win an election — that should tell you something about who actually benefits from leaving the locks unchanged.
